iFlex™ – Flexible Indirect Heating for Today’s Operations and Tomorrow’s Electrification
How iFlex Works
The iFlex™ Indirect Heating System utilizes a closed-loop water/glycol circuit that transfers heat through a continuous vaporization and condensation cycle. A gas-fired or electric heat source converts the water/glycol mixture into steam, which then travels to a vessel-mounted or integral recirculation exchanger to heat the process fluids.
As the steam condenses within the exchanger, it releases its latent heat energy to the surrounding process fluid. The condensed liquid then returns to the heating chamber, where it is reheated and vaporized again, creating a highly efficient, continuous heat transfer loop.
Because the system repeatedly vaporizes and condenses the same clean water/glycol mixture, common issues associated with makeup water, scaling, and fouling are minimized. The controlled steam provides uniform, consistent heating without the risk of damaging coatings or gaskets, allowing the exchanger to remain safely submerged in crude oil for maximum heat transfer efficiency and improved treating performance.
